Pete's A30 storyThis page features an A30 that has spent all its life in the Midlands area in England, originally being chauffeured for a pair of sisters no less! Gray Jones & Sons, Aberdovey & Towyn, Phones 8 & 242 (they don’t answer the phone anymore) by Miss Evans and her sister who lived in Shropshire, and was first registered on the 22.09.1953. Miss Evans kept the car until 1981, when she sold the vehicle to Mr. Egan of Telford who registered the car in his name on the 8.04.81. He kept the car until June 1989 when he sold it to Mr. Lamb of Telford, with a mileage of 29121. The road tax expired on the 30.06. and the vehicle was taken off the road and dry stored under cover. I purchased the car on 24.03.2004 with a true mileage of 29357. I re-commissioned the car, fitting a new exhaust and front brake cylinders and the car passed its M.O.T. the first time with not even an advice slip. The car has never been welded, (and doesn’t need any) retains its original paint, number, and interior, and can only be described as original and excellent. All the numbers match and are original. I use the car regularly and it can often be seen ‘buzzing’ round the roads of Shropshire and Cheshire. The mileage now is 34259. It is reliable and very economical. Spare parts are not a problem, although engine bits for the 803cc engine need to be ‘sourced’, which is why many owners fit the later 948cc, 1098cc and even 1275cc engines. I have considered fitting a 948cc engine myself but like the originality of my Baby Austin. " | |||||
